Read Nehemiah 4:1 through 5:19; John 16:12–33
But a time is coming, and has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me (John16:32).
...The world’s population grows daily, and though many of us connect through electronic media, we have a worldwide epidemic of loneliness. We live far away from our extended families. Global mobility has removed us from supportive relationships and old friends. Neighbors dash to jobs and activities, and merely wave as they pass. It’s no wonder people are lonely, even in a crowd.
Jesus had every human reason to feel lonely. He walked His path to Calvary alone. Most of His friends, who vowed their allegiance, left Him to fend for himself in a life-threatening situation. Only His mother and one friend stayed.
Yet amid all this chaos, Jesus remained focused on what was important. He would never feel lonely, because He knew His Father was always with Him.
Challenge for Today: Develop a deep relationship with your Father and send loneliness packing.
