I am a lucky man.
During this time of the year, we reflect on what we have accomplished, endured, fought for, loved, lost, been great at, have work to do around, and are blessed with.
We have a short time while we are here, and sometimes need to re-calibrate to realize how rewarding our lives are, despite what may happen to us and distract us down rabbit holes we need not venture.
When you work hard, good things happen. When you're a good man, father, friend, colleague, and person - while inviting God into all you do, great things can happen. I feel privileged to have the wisdom to continuously evolve, learn, be the best dad I can be to Lily, and man to my family and others.
When I look at the pictures on facebook, messages I have sent and received, and those around me - I think of where I have been, am at, and dream about going. I see how lucky I am with the family and friends I am so fortunate to enjoy life with. That word, "enjoy", isn't something that happens to you, nor is luck. It is a byproduct of your actions, not magic. All the little things you do and God has for you are instrumental in the many miracles you may glance over and not notice that you are a part of daily.
I see love. I see my lucky life. I see someone who is not perfect, has made mistakes, but is on a daily journey to embark upon living an abundant and joyous life with the wonderful people I am blessed to invest in adventures with. Fail forward, persevere by not settling for having an identity that is your past downfalls, but rather provoke change through adjustments and making great decisions.
This doesn't have to happen once a year, but rather once a day. I encourage you to be still, grateful, appreciate your blessings, love your family like crazy, and 'die empty' - thinking in retrospect of where you would like to be, are, and the disciplined action steps you need to implement to instigate the life, family, and love you seek.
Know that I "enjoy" feeling "lucky" that I not only have knowledge of you, but know you - and get to think of you and your family during this time of the year, and beyond.
Bless you, your family, and love those around you beyond reason.
With gratitude,
Brian Siegel
