Define Success | 2014

20 ways to live happier and healthier in 2014

1) "Comparison is the thief of joy." - Theodore Roosevelt  (don't always allow others ways and lives to consume how you should be). Benchmark how you define success to how you identify it. Not all cups of tea are for everyone.

2) Love first, and more of it - and don't have a reason for it. "Choose the one you love, love the one you choose."

3) Stop blaming and having excuses, make "it" happen. Pursue that dream, plan that vacation, increase that savings account and invest, ask that question, implement courage, etc.

4) The mercy you give to others will be the mercy you're given.

5) Pray and have other healthy habits infused throughout each day, not just when it is needed medicine. Align to God's plan vs. my own human ideas of what life should be and why.

6) We are as great as we help others become. Give your time, talents, and or treasure to invest into others lives and make positive impact. You can do this simply in your own home too. Be gracious and grateful. Be generous.

7) Play more. (be active, energetic, go to games, play games, be playful, be fun, joke around and laugh til your sides hurt)

8) Schedule rest. Be still. Be present. "Bloom where you're planted." Take your time, be patient, but think quick.

9) Forgive someone for something and be free. There's no cap, quota, or limit to this. Delivers mutual freedom. You can even forgive without telling them.

10) Be mindful of distractions and relieve yourself of things that divide you from what's true.

11) Write more. Put your heart on paper, make Dr. Seuss proud with that rhyming limerick, journal, vent your heart out and them shred it for healing, or write a hand written thank you.

12) Be more thoughtful with proactivity vs. react to others. No more "fire, ready, aim".

13) Reconnect with old friends. We were built for community and thrive by having (healthy) relationships.

14) Make time for what matters, like family and creating fun traditions. Do random acts of kindness. Be healthier, drink more water, be conscious of portions, we truly are what we eat, sleep well - we are organisms, and need balance / consistency / stability to our circadian rhythm. Our thoughts can transition to actions. Attitude is altitude.

15) Smile. (don't need a reason, and it can simply be mind over body if need be)

16) Sometimes being counterintuitive is intuitive. Allow your first thoughts and noticing of things to be a springboard to another perspective or introspective. Flex your physical, mental, and spiritual muscles.

17) Be more lighthearted. Life can get too serious, heavy your joys and lighten your burdens.

18) Create more. Anything that brings an idea to life and it doesn't have to restrict you to a hobby or profession. Paint, design, build, make a t-shirt, take a crafts class, woodworking, etc. Energetically be your passion.

19) Be earlier to things. Time is the scarcest resource we have. Utilize it smartly.

20) As a parent, always remember to never quit protecting my daughter and relax more where needed, and be conscious of making memories, instill ways to help Lily's confidence radiate to the beauty that shapes her decision making, leadership, and perspectives. Always do what's in her best interest vs. my own. *implement this to scale with people at work, friendships, and family as well.

Have not only a happy new year, but happy days daily!
