Hold It!

Hold It!

Read Exodus 16:1 through 18:27

When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset (Exodus17:12).

God designed humans to need each other. It began in the garden and it will be that way until the end of time. Sometimes our sole task in Christ is to stand at someone’s side and hold them up. When there are no answers for terrible loss, stand at the grieving one’s side and hold her up. When a saint feels troubled in soul, stumbling sinfully away from the cross, stand at his side and hold him up.

Babes in Christ may teeter between what used to be and the new man. Stand at their side and hold them up until they can walk on their own. And when time draws to an end and once active members of your congregation are isolated and lonely and shut in—go to their sides and hold them up with attention and tenderness.
