Grace Under Fire

Grace under Fire

Read Job 40:3 through 42:17; Acts 10:1–23

After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord made him prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before (Job 42:10).

Job was God’s most faithful servant. God allowed Satan to test Job, and the test was severe. Job lost all of his possessions, his health, and even his children. He had friends who came to him in his distress, but instead of encouraging him, they questioned his faithfulness to God and made his suffering even worse. Through it all, Job remained true to God, even though he didn’t understand why these things were happening to him.

At the end of his trial, God declared Job to be His faithful servant and commanded Job’s friends to repent and ask Job to pray for them. Once again, Job chose to honor God and was rewarded.

If you were faced with the struggles of Job, could you find forgiveness in your heart for the people who attacked you? Could you prove faithful before, during, and after the most difficult challenge?

Challenge for Today: Commit to demonstrating the faithfulness of Job when you go through life-altering trials.
